In The Name of The Peopleis thus the latest piece of propaganda aimed at portraying the government's victory in its anti-corruption campaign.

At least it does a decent job inentertaining viewers,building suspense[6]and intrigue[7].

The show's screenwriter,Zhou Meisen, is aseasoned[经验丰富的;老到的]writer of anti-corruption fiction andno stranger to[8]censorship by the Chinese government.

He made sure thatHou Liangping- the hero of In The Name Of the People - didnot come from a privileged backgroundwith a lot of political connections, so that the character would be more "idealised".

剧中的主人公侯亮平像个英雄,没有任何背景,也从不依仗特权,这难免有些理想化

"We all badly need heroes, upright law-enforcing heroes like Hou Liangping."

但周梅森认为:“人们需要英雄。”
