1. The Traits of Leaders Who Do Things Fast and Well

Organisations are looking to become more agile, yet not to compromise quality. Zenger conducted an analysis that identified seven unique factors that help achieve both seemingly contradictive goals.

1. Have a clear vision and provide specific directions

2. Set stretch goals and maintain high standards

3. Powerful communication

4. Have the courage to change

5. Look at the organisation externally and avoid being consumed with a focus on internal problems

6. Inspire and motivate others

7. Innovate

It is somewhat similar to the career pyramid :

People at the base level work efficiently and innovatie.

Middle management communicate powerfully and motivate the team.

Top management provide a clear strategic vision.

That's how the dots get connected.

2. Five Principles for Negotiating Against the Odds

- 知己知彼百战百胜 Know your weaknesses, but focus on theirs.

- Shape the narrative. Whichever narrative that pervades the social consciousness will have consequences for your ability to attract followers and to forge winning coalition.

- Increase bargaining power and leverage by creating value for the other side.

- Choose your battles.

- “They win” does not equal “you lose.”
