004---I need an assistant!

原文：

A: ...like I told you before, we just don't have the resources to hire you an assistant.

B: I understand that, but the fact is we're understaffed.

A: The timing is just not right. The  economy is bad, and it's too risky  to take on new staff.

B: Yeah, I guess you're right.... here's an idea, what if we hire an intern? She would take some of the weight off my shoulders. 

A: She?

B: Yeah, you know, a recent graduate. She could give me a hand with some of these projects and we could keep our costs down. 

A: That sounds reasonable... let me see what I can do.

A: Tony, I'd like to introduce you to your new assistant.

B: OK, great! Let's meet her! 

C: Hi, I'm Adam. 

B: Oh... hi... I'm Tony...

笔记：

1. resources

resource有“资源”和“财力”的意思，这里就是“财力，钱”的意思，相当于money~

2. understaffed

staff是集合名词，表示“职员，工作人员”

understaffed  adj. 人手不足的

overstaffed  就是understaffed的反义词，表示人员过剩的，人员过多的

3. The timing is just not right.

现在不是好时机，现在还不是时候。

eg: The time is just not right for us to have a baby.

4. weight off my shoulders 减轻负担

5. give sb. a hand with ...

帮忙，相当于help或者do sb. a favor

6. keep our costs down

减少花费，减少开销

7. intern 实习生/ 实习医生

internship 实习生，实习期间

8. That sounds reasonable.

听起来很合理

9. hire雇佣

fire 是解雇的意思

10. What if ...? 如果……会怎么样？

eg: What if I can't work out this problem?
