SUMMARY

This week, we learned the remain forms of writing——science and technology, business, sports, arts, and the secret weapon of the nonfiction writer——humor.

Different forms have common tenets: clarity, simplicity, brevity, humanity. They are not difficult as you think.

And every form has its own character. When writing science and technology, you must hold the tenet that the reader knows nothing, imagine the writing as an upside-down pyramid. As for business writing, don't use pretentious language, be yourself when you write if you work for an institution. When you write about sports, look for people and places, time and transition. For good criticism and good reviewing, love the medium you are reviewing, don’t give away too much of the plot, use specific detail, avoid the ecstatic adjectives.

THOUGHT
