Some Thoughts after an In-house Workshop

I am working in the Marketing Department of a 500 fortune Company. The X division had a whole-day Workshop last week. Meanly about brainstorming the brand strategy about X brand. The head of Marketing-Y participated from the very beginning to the very end. He made a summary about the whole workshop after some fierce discussions.

There are some of the highlights in below.

1 He said that he was surprised by the broadness of the some colleagues’ knowledge. I can see this in my group. Kathy was leading the discussion through the whole workshop. She really knew a lot of stuff in marketing area and fashion stuff and had points for most hot spots of society. THIS IS SOME THING THAT I SHOULD IMPROVE.

2 Y said that we should not be afraid of making a point and speaking it out, especially on a brainstorming workshop. I HAVE TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF SPEAKING OUT IN PUBLIC AND PRATICE AS MUCH AS I CAN TO GET RID OF STAGE FRIGHT.

Here are some things that I learned from this workshop:

1 Be confident! Have to be faithful about your own idea and fight for it.

2 Logical! Make sure that your methodology is right before doing everything. Once the methodology is set, get the work started based on it ASAP. Do not waste time on small disturbing things.

3 Do not overthink yourself! No matter who is in your group, don’t afraid of making mistake and just make your point being heard.

4 Always give your best! Once decided to do something, be fully committed!

5 Improve professional language! Read and discuss with others as much as possible to get enough input of professional knowledge. Try hard to tell others about this knowledge in professional language and your exclusive way.

Summary:

Participate as much these kind of workshops or other meetings as possible. Make each of them count!

Methodology always goes first and be logical and methodic all the time. That gives an essential support to self-confidence. For most of the time, it differs a lot with or without confidence.

Be confident and fully committed while doing everything.
