20181115 - Goodbye, Mr, Chips 08

You can go to blazes for all I care . My wife is dead and my child is dead, and I wish I were dead myself

My wife is dead and my child is dead时,我才意识到老头是在这一天失去了生命中最重要的两个人.....

Sir, may I have the afternoon off?  My people are coming up.

请半天假,前一天假:may i have the day off?

My people 用于口语表示我的亲人,come up 表示即将要来,注意up的用法

forth-form room 四年级

He tore them open one after the other , but each contained nothing but a blank sheet of paper.  He thought in a distant way that it was rather peculiar, but he made no comments.

in a distant way ---- 漠然地

造句:I say in a distant way that it is none of my business.

They had died on the same day, the mother and the child just born ; on April 1st, 1898.
