2.1 A man, surnamed Jiang, detonated a suspected fireworks-like device near the US embassy.

A teacher called Yu Minghong created New Oriental School in 1993 in Beijing.

2.2 Visa applicants waiting outside the embassy for scheduled interviews in the afternoon told China Daily.

Yu Minghong scheduled the listing day on Sep 7, 2006. 或者 I will write an article on English study everyday based on my schedule.

2.3 I was waiting to go inside the embassy when I heard a loud bang behind me.

这里是be doing...when...

He was having dinner with his parents when he received the admission letter of Qsinghua University.

After the incident took place, the Foriegn Ministry announced that it is an isolated one, meaning that it is done not out of political purpose but rather a civil/criminal case. The local police is still investigating it so it is not appriopriate to define the nature of this indident.

Nevertheless, it reminded me of what happened to China's Embassy in the League of Communists of Yugoslavia on May 8, 1999, when NATO lauched an accurate attack on our embassy with JDAM. Casulties rose to more than 20 and subsequent loss in terms of economic and diplomatic area can not be measured easily. One critical reason why America-led did that is China is not strong enough at that time. But now, after more than 4 decades of prosperous development in all respects, we are entitled to respect and recognition from those so-called powers around the world.
