Only Fern Can Hear Their Talking--

The first escape of Wilbur ended with a failure. This is mainly because that he haven't realized the danger he will face.

Wilbur was heart broken when he knew he would be killed. Wilbur didn't calm down until Charlotte comforted him by telling him that she would save him.

Fern was with them when all of these things happened. She witnessed the hatch of the goose eggs and saw Templeton (the rat) take away the unhatched egg. She also heard the bad news about Wilbur.

Fern was at ease when she heard Charlotte would save Wilbur. Then she returned home and had a talk with her mother.

Fern told her mother that Uncle Homer's goslings had hatched. She also told her what she had heard, such as the words between the goose and Templeton, which made her mother begin to worry about her.
In the eyes of Fern's mother, animals didnt talk, but Fern heard them. This was very weird, wasn't it?

My thinking:

1.Love is not a simple thing

Love your children does't merely mean give her food. You should also learn to take care of their souls.

There was no doubt that Fern' mother loved Fern very much. We could see from her talking with Fern as the following.

"The goose did what?" asked Mrs. Arable, gazing at her daughter with a queer, worried look.

"Who is Templeton?" asked Mrs. Arable.

"Who is 'us'?" asked Mrs . Arable.

"Charlotte?" said Mrs. Arable. "Who's Charlotte? "

"Charlotte is a spider?" asked Fern'mother.

"Does he really?" said Mrs. Arable, rather vaguely. She was staring at Fern with a worried expression on her face.

After she had left the room, Mrs. Arable spoke in a low voice to her husband.

Mrs. Arable worried about Fern because what Fern said. She thought Fern was freaky but she hadn't deny or scold her directly. Contrarily, she just spoke to her to talk about it later.

She was so worried about Fern that she even planned to ask Dr. Dorian about her the next time she saw him. She wanted him to know how queerly Fern was acting about that pig and everything. But she said anything to Fern. However,in order not to hurt Fern, she did not reveal that an animal did not talk an d required Fern to stop her abnormal behavior.

2.It is not Fern's ears sharper than theirs, but her heart

Mrs Arable still held the view that animals did not talk and Fern's behavior was very
weird although Mr. Arable told her that it might be Fern's imagination. Mr.Arable could not persuade her and she insisted on consulting to a doctor.

Mr. Arable chuckled. "Maybe they do talk," he said. "I've sometimes wondered. At any rate, don't worry about Fern--she's just got a lively imagination. Kids think they hear all sorts of things."

Mr. Arable grinned. "Maybe our ears aren't as sharp as Fern's," he said.

Maybe Mr. Arable was right--Fern had a very lively imagination or her ears were sharper than theirs. However,as far as I'm concerned,it is not Fern's ears sharper than theirs, but her heart. Fern was a kind-hearted girl and she loved animals very much. She could spend most of a day to stay quietly with Wilbur, just watched him. Therefore,it was definitely normal for her to hear their talking. They were in her heart. She could understand every move of them.
