Food Server

Definition: a person that serves food

Forms: pl. food servers

Fluency Practice:

Our food servers are friendly

And nice as can be.

Sometimes they give me an extra cookie.

Sometimes even three!

They work hard to fi x fresh, healthy meals.

I think that they’re quite a deal.

At lunchtime when we kids are feeling

Famished, faint, and weak,

Our food servers make sure

We have lots of yummy things to eat!

Phonics and Vocabulary Activities

Show the photo card and read the rhyme from the Fluency Practice. Have students discuss the amount of preparation involved in cooking for several

hundred people. Once students have had a chance to briefl y respond, write the term food server on the board. Slowly pronounce each sound,

/f/-/ōō/-/d/-/s/-/er/-/v/-/er/. Have students repeat and blend the sounds with you. Read the rhyme from the Fluency Practice again and ask students to

stand up each time they hear a word with the sound /f/. Write the words with the sound /f/ on the board and have the class practice pronouncing the

individual sounds in each word and then blending the words together.

Librarian

Definition: an expert on the care and management of a library; a person who works in a library

Forms: pl. librarians

Related Words: n. library

Fluency Practice:

Marian is a librarian, so what does Marian do?

She works with books in the library at the secondary school.

This librarian is a magician when you need to fi nd a book.

She is the custodian of the library;

She knows every corner and nook.

Do you need a book about a politician,

Historian, or technician,

A famous jazz musician, or an important physician,

How to be a beautician, or make vegetarian food?

Marian the librarian will fi nd

The book to fit your mood!

Phonics and Vocabulary Activities

Show the photo card and have students identify the person shown. If they cannot identify librarian, say the word, /l/-/ī/-/b/-r/-/e/-/r/-/ē/-/n/, and write

it on the board. Model syllabication as you point to each one of the syllables in the word. Then, ask students to do the same as you guide them by

pointing to each syllable. Ask them to identify the fi rst, second, third, and last syllable.

Teacher

Definition: a person whose job is to teach

Forms: pl. teachers

Related Word: n. teach; v. to teach

Fluency Practice:

Our teacher Mrs. Leach took our class to the beach.

We searched for shells.

We touched some creatures

Which we could catch.

Others we watched and could not reach.

Each one of us had so much fun.

We pitched a ball on the beach, too.

As Mrs. Leach was teaching us

Phonics and Vocabulary Activities

Show the photo card. Have students identify the person shown, or identify it for them if they cannot. Say the word teacher and sound it out for

them /t/-/ē/-/ch/-/er/, stressing the middle sound /ch/. Say the words preach and teach. Ask students what these words have in common. Read the

following list: bench, dog, porch, pine, bird, catch, and reach. Read it again, this time asking students to stand up every time they hear a word that

ends with the target sound.

支架式语言教学

一张一张的展示有关地点和工作的单词卡,让学生们识别它们。将单词卡发给学生,让地点和工作对应的学生互相找到,组成一组。互相对话:This is the nurse. She works in the nurse's office. 然后让学生们将单词卡打乱,重新配组。

多元智能训练

自我认知智能(Intrapersonal intelligence)

是指自我认识和善于自知之明并据此做出适当行为的能力。这项智能能够认识自己的长处和短处,意识到自己的内在爱好、情绪、意向、脾气和自尊,喜欢独立思考的能力。他们适合的职业是:哲学家、政治家、思想家、心理学家等。

本课训练

让学生画出他们的父母或者监护人做什么工作。将学生分组。让每一位学生说出他父母或者监护人的工作,让学生找出有多少父母或者监护人做同样的工作。

空间智能( Visual/Spatial intelligence )

是指准确感知视觉空间及周围一切事物,并且能把所感觉到的形象以图画的形式表现出来的能力。这项智能包括对色彩、线条、形状、形式、空间关系很敏感。他们适合的职业是:室内设计师、建筑师、摄影师、画家、飞行员等。

本课训练

准备材料:画纸和蜡笔

将学生分组,让学生画一张学校的地图,包括学生用书第24页的重点词汇和其他自己学校有的设施。让学生在教室前展示自己的学校地图,并进行讲解。
