Oct.30 On Writing Well（Ch1&2）

It is my first time that i have read foreigner book so carefully.刚刚看书没留意看到了前面的前言，看了好几页后才发现这不是第一章。做了quzilet后生词少了好多，超级喜欢第一章作者说的这本书寻求带给你人性和温暖。本单元标题是principle，作者在第一章最后说原则可以教的么？不，大多数可以去学。学习亦是如此，大二时学的教育心理学中布鲁纳提出认知结构理论：学生的学习是主动认知，并把新获的知识和已有的认知结构建立起来。主动学习起来！

PART1  Words And Expressions

1.Dr. Brock was dressed in a bright red jacket, looking vaguely bohemian, as authors are supposed to look, and the first question went to him. What was it like to be a writer?

vaguely有三种解释含糊不清、心不在焉以及稍微.在这里应该是第三种意思稍微slightly，有点儿。例如说：虽然他的声音很熟悉但我记不起他是谁：i couldn't remember who he  was although his voice was vaguely familiar

2.He was going to talk about writing as an avocation.That made us a panel, and we sat down to face a crowd of students and teachers and parents, all eager to learn the secrets of our glamorous work.

glamorous表示非常刺激、吸引人、与众不同的意思，甚至有奢侈奢华的意思。比如说光鲜亮丽的明星。在这里应该是学生都很渴望了解我们这独特有魅力刺激的工作。例如你心目中令人向往的工作是什么？what's you glamorous work in your mind？

3.It’s impossible for a muddy thinker to write good English. He may get away with it for a paragraph or two, but soon the reader will be lost, and there’s no sin so grave, for the reader will not easily be lured back.（page 8）

get away with这个词组我超级有印象，前不久单词课开课第一天我问了这个词组，差点没被骂死。字典里面直译翻译为成功做坏事却没被谴责，我翻译不好理解不了。朗文译为应付我一下子理解了。我们拿最近hit movie《天才枪手》举例，学生应付作业却通过考试？how can student get  away with homework but pass the exam？

PART2  Extract good sentences

This is the personal transaction that’s at the heart of good nonfiction.Out of it come two of the most important qualities that this book will go in search of: humanity and warmth. Good writing has an aliveness that keeps the reader reading from one paragraph to the next, and it’s not a question of gimmicks to “personalize” the author.

这个段落我超喜欢，第一句就解决了课表第一个问题，非小说类写作的本质是personal transaction，直译为个人交易好奇怪，我将它理解成一种个人化情感，作者与读者的一种交流。下文中提到我们可以从这本书中，寻找到两种最重要的品质:人性和温暖。优秀的写作有一种让读者从一段到另一段的阅读活力，而这并不是一个让作者“个性化”的噱头。私以为教书亦是如此，不会教懂学生的老师并不是一个好老师，好的老师会尝试各种方式让学生灵活理解课本知识。有时候自己读书会泪流满面就是感受到作者传递的情感，例如李白的“天生我材必有用，千金散尽还复来”，又如王勃的“穷且益坚，不坠青云之志”。优秀的作品会让读者有种如饥似渴般读，读完后必如鱼得水般欢乐。

这是我第一次写，以前英文书只看过ugly ducking之类的儿童读物，现在看书还是会跳着读，有时候翻译也写的不好，期待不断学习改进！记得之前看Eric的公众号说sophomore大二的学生有一知半解的意味。虽然我现在大三了，但很多思想观点都不成熟，要不断学习，多多指教
