1.sulky=angry

She  was  sulky  because  her  roommates  often  give  her  pointed （挖苦的） words  with   cold  faces.

2.quelling（镇定的） =calm

   quell（镇压  缓和）

Despite  his  feeling  of  a  surge  of  anger,he   tried  to  look  quelling .

3.prudent  （小心的；节俭的）

Be  prudent,you  have run  low  on  your  money.

4.amount  to （相当于；总计）

A  cost of  party  amounts  to  my  spending  on  meals.

5.plunderer （盗贼）

abashed=awkward

The  plunderer  is   abashed  when  caught in  a  stealing.

6.meddlesome（爱管闲事的）

She  is  meddlesome  and  want to  get involved  in   matters  happening  in  daily  life.

7.presume   to  +V.原形（胆敢，竟敢）

You  presumed  to   speak  like  that to  your  father.

8.something  of  a  （有点；可以说是）

You  are  something  of  a  brave  girl.Just  to  live  your  life  in  the way  u  want.
