Singing Snowberg

Chapter Five

Arioso <1>

Sometimes I thought about Sunder’s past. She never explained them, but how could I figure out anything from her bizarre preexistence alone?
“It’s dangerous, we’ll have to walk through fire, dancing in the rain something like that? Are you sure you want to come?” “Cool. We all need adventures, don’t we?”
So I slide open the illusion to let him go first. We’re at the top of a little hill where has the view of the sea. “This is China? I love it!” Sunder presses her index finger upon her lips, we have to be quiet. She’s hiding behind a tree, follow her gaze we see a girl who’s sitting on a wooden stool. She was in my dream!
“Her name is Cyan.” I have to observe closely because Sunder won’t explain anything. Cyan’s eyes are closed, facing to the sea. There’s a tombstone stands by the little mound behind her. She’s watching a sunset with her eyes closed, secretive smile on her face.
Sunder scratches the bark, lips tightened together. She might be thinking something, about how to help that child. She behaves normally, is this happened before her madness? Yes she looks younger than in the other memories.
We stayed until Cyan has left. “Do you feel okay?” I’m worrying. Salix smiles to me, “don’t worry, I’m just a reflection.” Okay, I take a reflection with me when I’m dreaming in another person’s past. I would like to take the real Salix with me. “You knew it’s hard to achieve, both real people together in a dream. Nah.”
Forget it, “let’s go check that tomb.” That’s a long square stone, some red Chinese characters were engraved on it. It says: “The tomb of Rose Lee”, wait how could I recognise Chinese?” Sunder reaches out and touches these characters, speaking slowly, “You just knew. Have you ever wondered how could I speak English?” Oh right I never suspected that, I just took it for granted. Yeah, there shouldn’t be many explanations.
This name definitely is much like Rosa. “You told me about her.” Salix said. Yes, our minds are connected. No more questions Cyano, just walk and see, whatever they’re, they’ve already became the past.
“Rose was her grandmother.” Oh I see, she’s the storyteller in my dreams. Suppose she past away, and that girl was mourning. She told her many stories after all.
The sky is purple above the glittering sea, some birds are soaring, wooden boats floating like the little yachts in a snow globe. Something soft floating in the air like a kind of smell, but I can only describe it with “softness”.
A wooden house stands at the foot of the hill where we’re standing. Cyan is leaning over one of the top windows, though she’s looking outside, there’s no anticipation in her eyes. Perhaps she always looking outside like this, no more things to be discovered.
Sunder raises her hand making a salute. At this moment I know what’s in Cyan’s eyes, indifference. She wasn’t even catch a glimpse of Sunder, maybe she saw her but forgets her the next second. She’s a girl only listens to the stories from her grandma. There’s even no sorrow visible. “She had got worn of it.”
“She needs to forget them.” “I suppose so.”
We heard the thunderstorm, the sky twists itself and that force comes to Sunder and everything were wrapped and released in a blink of an eye, then everything is different. This is a little house made of red bricks, Sunder is watching a book.
What are you reading? “Beyond Good and Evil, written by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.” She stopped responding my mind questions. We’re getting bored, so we leave the house trying to catch some air. This doesn’t make sense, we don’t need air in dreams.
“How do you feel?” “I’m bored. Let me kiss you.” Oh, the kissing is so real, even better than in the reality! “Do you want a go?” I’m going to strip his clothes off, but something’s not right: he doesn’t respond my touch. But when I leave him he embraces me from my back.
“Look, beautiful, isn’t it?” The view outside the house is blurred heavily, just colours to be seen. “I can’t see anything.” He points to a patch of green, “that must be a tree.” “Let go of me.” “No, you stay.”
I heard something, someone’s approaching. Then every sound becomes clear, suddenly the patch before the door can be clearly seen. “Don’t you understand? We feel what she feels, if she was feeling something then we can’t feel, that’s why everything’s blurred. Right now she’s looking out from the door.” “Yes, I got it.”
