the little prince and the narrator talk about sunsets 

Oh, little prince! Bit by bit I came to understand the secrets of your sad little life... For a long time you had found your only entertainment in the quiet pleasure of looking at the sunset. I learned that new detail on the morning of the fourth day, w hen you said to me:

"I am very fond of sunsets. Come, let us go look at a sunset now."

"But we must wait," I said.

"Wait? For what?"

"For the sunset. We must wait until it is time."

At first you seemed to be very much surprised. And then you laughed to yourself. You said to me:

"I am always thinking that I am at home!"

Just so. Everybody knows that when it is noon in the United States the sun is setting over France.

If you could fly to France in one minute, you could go straight into the sunset, right from noon. Unfortunately, France is too far away for that. But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need do is move your chair a few steps. You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like... "One day," you said to me, "I saw the sunset forty-four times!"

And a little later you added:

"You know-- one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..."

"Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?"

But the little prince made no reply.

3. 内容概要

这一章，作者开始渐渐了解到小王子忧郁的生活，很长一段时间，小王子的唯一乐趣就是看夕阳。

小王子：我很喜欢看夕阳，走，我们现在去看夕阳。

我：等等。

小王子：等什么？

我：等夕阳。我们要等到黄昏的时候才能看。

小王子吃了一惊，然后自己就笑了。

小王子：我总以为自己在家里。

地球人都知道，美国中午的时候，法国正是黄昏夕阳时。如果你可以在一分钟之内从美国飞到法国，你是可以立马看到夕阳的。但是美国和法国离的太远啦。

然而，在小王子的星球，你只需要把你的椅子挪几步，就可以想什么时候看夕阳就什么时候看。

小王子：有一次，我一天看了44次夕阳！你知道吗，当一个人很悲伤的时候，就喜欢看夕阳。

我：你看44次夕阳的那天，你在悲伤什么？

小王子没有回答我。

说到这44次日落，有的版本是43次。圣埃克苏佩里写《小王子》的时候43岁，小王子每天看日落的次数是43次。第二年作者去世了，为了纪念他，大多数版本把小王子看日落的次数改为了44次，也就是作者去世的年龄。所以现在的译本有的是43次，有的是44次。

这一章比较简短，却是非常关键的一章，因为作者从这里开始慢慢进入小王子的内心深处，探索他小小身体里藏着的故事。

摄影最讲究利用光影，一日中能拍出最美的照片的时间除了晴天的早上太阳刚升起时的八九点，另一个时间就是黄昏日落之时。这个时候的太阳换下了白日的焦灼和锋利，换上优雅温柔的妩媚神情，轻轻抚慰同样疲惫了一天的万物。电影中也总有美好神奇的事情发生在日落，比如，天使爱美丽在日落时分坐在喜欢的人的自行车后座上，两人一起大笑着穿过被金色落日铺满的巴黎街道；比如，杰西和赛琳娜的爱在日落黄昏时。

可以说，黄昏日落时是一天中最治愈的时刻了。

所以，拥有如此之魔力的日落时分对于小王子来说，那是万能的治愈之药。难过悲伤的时候就去看夕阳，看一次不够就看44次。可是，挪着椅子追着落日的小王子，他在为了什么而悲伤呢？悲伤到什么程度才会看44次日落？
