2.chances are：很有可能，是很常见的一个表达

例句：If you live near Guijie,chances are you come across me quite often.

3.spell：一段时间 a period of a particular kind of activity, weather, illness etc, usually a short period

例句：After a brief spell in the army, I returned to teaching.

4.apart from：除了…可以与except for做同义替换

其他表示除此之外的表达：besides/in addition to/other than/on top of/save

5.They tired him：他们把他累着了，tire做动词了解一下

6.be（with）spectacles 戴着眼镜

7.been there,done that 去过那，做过那件事（想起了红极一时的“爱过”）

8.that's account for it =that made sense

9.cap their joke：玩笑比其他人的更好笑，cap在这里表示超过的意思。

10.as it were=so to speak表达可以这么说，但不保证对的意思。

11.fog-laden：充满了雾
