Here are the reasons why you should NOT date your office co-worker:

1. You have to see him or her everyday. The saying absence makes the heart grow fonder cannot apply to you. Very soon you will get tired of seeing your date, and the relationship is likely to wear off.

2. If you occasionally have lunch or dinner with another colleague of the oppositie sex, he or she will likely know about it, and may get jealous. This limits your freedom to socialize with other collagues, and may affect your relationship with other colleagues.

3. Once your other colleagues have noticed that you two are dating each other you will become the centre of gossip everyday. And your reputation will be adversely affected, especially when sometimes you two have a quarrel.

4. If he or she is indeed very attractive physically this will cause lot of distraction to you,thus affecting your performance at work.

5. The conversation topics with your date will likely be just about your work and your company most of the time. Very soon you will find that there is nothing else you can share and talk about except all these work-related topics.

6. If and when you decide to live with your date the situation will become even worse. You can almost forget about balancing between work and your social life.

7. If and when you two have an arugument or a big quarrel, you have nowhere to escape to, and practically no one to turn to for support, as your other co-workers are likely not to take sides and get involved. They will just enjoy making and listening to the gossips about such quarrels.

8. If the relationship does not work out eventually, you will still have to meet your date everyday. Yourr mood and hence performance at work will likely to be affected even more and for a longer time than if you break up with someone outside the office.

For any or most or all of the reasons above, it is very unwise, or even stupid to start a romance with a co-worker. If you must do it,  either one of you should quit your job first.
