My daughter, Jane, never dreamed of receiving a letter from a girl of her own age in Holland. Last year, we were traveling across the Channel and Jane put a piece of paper with her name and address on it into a bottle. She threw the bottle into the sea. She never thought of it again, but ten months later, she received a letter from a girl in Holland. Both girls write to each other regularly now. However, they have decided to use the post-office. 知识笔记：

现在来看看我们应该如何正确的发出/ɜː/这个音。

1）半张开嘴巴，双唇略扁平，向嘴角两边略拉开。

2）舌身平放，舌中部伸向硬颚，但不要接触到硬颚，舌部肌肉紧张。

3）震动声带，发出/ɜː/音。

注意：/ɜː/个长元音，这个音听起来和汉语的"饿"相似，要注意的是在美国英语中该音后常常加上一个r的音，类似北京方言的儿发音。
