让步 despite

今天我们学习表示“让步”的介词在用法上的区别，表示让步的介词（短语）有despite, in spite of等，都作 ”尽管“，”任凭“解。

despite = in spite of

E.g. He attended the meeting despite (in spite of) his illness. 他抱病出席会议。

despite后面不加任何介词

regardless of, notwithstanding

E.g. Regardless of danger, he climbed the tower. 他不顾危险爬上了这座塔。

E.g. Notwithstanding the long delay, I shall still go abroad for further study.  尽管拖延了很久，我还是要出国深造。

regardless后面必须有of, notwithstanding 后面则不能再接其它介词。

for all one's..., with all one's...

E.g. With all their achievements, they remain modest and purdent. 尽管有成就，他们依然保持谦虚谨慎。

E.g. For all his faults, he is still a good friend. 尽管有很多缺点，他仍不失为一位好朋友。

应注意，for 和 with 都必须跟all one's...才能表示让步的意思。
