想到“持续”我们可能会立刻想到“continue”，很多时候其实也可以用“last”来替换。“last”作为动词可以表示“持续”，它的主语一般是一个事件、情形、问题。比如我们想说“房产的繁荣景象不会持续”，就可以说：

The housing boom will not last.

Justin 在写“瑞幸咖啡”的英文随笔中也用到过“last”。瑞幸发展迅猛，但这种势头是否会持续下去还不得而知。他是这样写的：
