———–Intel’s Andrew Grove: We were afraid of being sunk

Mr Grove was one of the company’s original employees and was responsible for its switch away from making memory chips to manufacturing computer processors.
Beyond his achievements at Intel, he was recognised as being one of Silicon Valley’s most influential management experts, advising Apple’s Steve Jobs among others, and penning several books including Only the Paranoid Survive. It was named after one of his guiding principles.
In 1982, he told the BBC’s Money Programme that the strength of the US’s chip-making industry came from the fact that its members had “always been as competitive as a bunch of cut-throat street vendors”.

—————-Three US hospitals hit by ransomware

The IT systems of three US hospitals have been infected with ransomware, which encrypts vital files and demands money to unlock them.
The systems, at Kentucky Methodist Hospital and Chino Valley Medical Center and Desert Valley Hospital, California, are now running normally again.
None of the hospitals is believed to have paid the ransom.
And the cases are now being investigated by the FBI.
