生产数据库要不要升级与ORACLE数据库支持服务内容和时限的问题
第一章 ORACLE 12.2.0.0.2小鲜肉来了
12c是oracle在数据库领域的革命性产品，诸多新功能，如CDB、PDB、In-Memory、Sharding、组合列分区表等等行业内领先技术，无不体现出ORACLE仍占据着行业内的创新技术领头羊地位。
Oracle 12.2至今未发布，但是其beta可是出来了的。现在Oracle12.2beta版，我们拿到了。

我们拿到的是ORACLE 12.2.0.0.2哦，是2016年1月22日ORACLE公司最新公布的Beta版本。
Oracle ORACLE 12.2.0.0.1 bete版 for linux则是在2015年10月23日发布的版本，而forsolaris和windows版，则是在同年11月所发布有图有真相：

第二章 生产环境数据库到底要不要升级
1、从创新应用与性能及可靠性提升角度出发应该升级
IT技术日新月异，企业信息化管理者中的自由派，喜欢尝试升级软件版本，使用高版本的新的技术来提升IT质量与降低成本，例如：
利用oracle 12C的CDB、PDB功能搭建自己的数据库私有云环境，降低过度对硬件设备的依赖与需要投入大量的运维人力资源；
在不增加硬件投入、不修改应用程序的情况下利用oracle 12C的In-Memory、Sharding、组合列分区表等功能特性提升系统性能，增加系统吞吐量；利用12c的rman表级备份恢复减少少必要的资源消耗等，不仅节约成本，还减少因为负载过高可能引发的系统宕机等；
利用oracle 12C的增强DDL能力，减少因为应用程序或运维调所带来的系统被迫申停停运，以及新版本中已经对老版本中已发现的大量BUG已修复等来减少系统的意外宕机的可能性等等。
2、不用新功能，数据库就不用升级了？
在企业信息化管理者中，也不乏有一些保守派，则认为“我也不想用什么新功能，我的数据库就一直维护当前版本，升不升级跟我无关呢”。
果真是不用新功能，升级就与己无关吗？下面来看看ORACLE的技术支持政策而领悟领悟吧。

标准支持（Premier Support）
这是一个在GA（稳定发布）版本之日起五年内提供的可以针对特定BUG与不确定性技术支持服务

扩展支持（Extended Support）
这是一个可以付费购买的支持选项,针对关键问题可以获得一次性修复（补丁集例外） 与不确定性的技术支持，但可能不包括一些对第三方新产品的支持认证。
这通常意味着为了得到 bug 修复或主动的安全补丁，需要一个额外的扩展支持合同。然而在不同版本之上，对于第一年的扩展支持（Extended Support）的费用已经对所有客户豁免。客户不需要做任何事即可利用这个豁免。在此期间 bug 修复和补丁将按正常继续，例如，11.2，从2015年2月到2016年1月底为免费扩展期。

有限扩展支持（SustainingSupport）
在购买了扩展服务（ Extended Support）之后，最大限度地提供支持服务，但仅限于一级问题修复的扩展服务，主要是预先存在的修复程序与技术的支持服务；不包括 critical pathupdate。
也就是说，当进入有限扩展支持阶段，不仅需要付钱才能提供支持，而且是不再对新问题提供支持。
