I highly recommend having some kind of trade show giveaway at your booth. My favorite was a big bowl of Hershey Kisses (almond) located on a table halfway into the booth so that everyone could see them, but needed to cross the line to get them. I would ask each person grabbing some if they were interested in my product, and if not, thank them and move on. Having traffic is a double-edged sword though: some is good because it makes your booth look popular, but you don’t want to get tied up with people that aren’t buying what you’re selling.
have traffic 拥有人气 : traffic:the movement of vehicles, people, etc, in a particular place or for a particular purpose,就是人流量,人气就是再意译一下。
halfway into the booth展台中央:个人理解这里halfway可以说是半路,进入展台半路就是展台中央,也就是在展位的里面。

And Beijing is not an exception. The 2014 Guangzhou Marathon, set for Nov. 23, has already attracted some 50,000 applicants for its 20,000 slots, so whether they will run or not is determined by a lottery system. The most senior applicant is 83 years old.
For quite some time, it has been fashionable all over the world to participate in marathon races, but it was not until recently that this sport has become popular in China. For many Chinese, it is now a fad.

My other favorite giveaway was a nice-looking pen with my company’s logo on it. They are relatively cheap. It’s surprising how many customers at a trade show are in need of a pen. The great thing about pens is that they seldom get thrown out, but instead end up on your customer’s desk or in his drawer. Put more than your company name on it; add a website and a phone number.
If you’re serious about getting a good giveaway for you booth, try to pick something interesting but within your budget. Get something that won’t be thrown away after the show. Make sure your company name and contact information are on it. It’s great if you can pick a product that is themed with your business. If you pick an expensive item, hold on to it and only give it to your qualified prospects. Use it as a tool to get people’s attention.

One of the reasons for marathon races to become trendy is their low entry threshold. The world-class runner Roger Robinson once claimed that no other sport has a lower threshold, meaning that running is the most readily available, most inexpensive, and most easily organized sporting activity. As a matter of fact, you won’t need many facilities or much equipment. With a pair of shoes, you can run, no matter if you are young or old, man or woman.
There are more and more marathon races throughout the country because of the economic development and rapid expansion of the middle class of the country----the class that is more enthusiastic than ever before about keeping healthy and strong. More than 300 million Chinese, most of whom live in highly developed cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou are interested in a healthy lifestyle.
One of the factors that contribute to the popularity of marathon races is the low entry barrier. Roger Robinson, a world-class runner, once said that no other sport has a lower entry barrier, describing running as the most accessible, cheapest and most easily organized sport. In fact, you don’t need much in the way of facilities or equipment----get a pair of shoes and you can hit the road, young and old, women and men.
The growing number of marathons nationwide is also due to the country’s economic development and the rapid expansion of a middle class that is more than ever keen on staying healthy and fit. China now has up to 300 million people focused on healthy lifestyles, most of them in highly developed cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Ask a prospect, “Would you be interested in our product? I just need to ask you a few questions.” If the prospect turns out to be not qualified, thank him for his time and give him a pen.
If I were to do trade shows in future, I would consider tins of mints with my company logo on them. I think they would make it past the show, and although they would eventually run out and the tin would be discarded, they would certainly last for a while.
Also, I think I would put labels with my website and two unique numbers on them. I would then tell prospects to hold on to the tin, and check my website on the Monday after the show, where we would post a number at the bottom of our home page. Whoever had that first number on their label would simply have to call us with the second number to collect a prize—perhaps a $100 gift.

The current surge in private capital flows has occurred in the midst of much-improved domestic policies and global financial conditions compared with those that prevailed during the capital flows surge of the 1990s. This time around, governments have so far generally managed to avoid excessive expansion of aggregate demand, large current-account deficits, and sharp appreciations of the real exchange rate. However, the policy agenda for managing capital flows is broad and complex, and considerable challenges remain.
Progress has been made in simplifying the very complex web of capital controls and exchange rate restrictions imposed by many countries. But the gradual opening of capital accounts must be accomplished by a further strengthening of macroeconomic policies, the development of local capital markets and the institutions needed to regulate them, and the establishment of a system of risk management robust enough to respond to the needs of a more flexible exchange rate and open capital account. Liberalization of the capital account once implemented is difficult to reverse. A return to capital controls should be seen only as a policy of last resort, to be used to dampen excessive exchange rate volatility or to moderate large inflows of capital when other policies, such as interest rates and intervention in foreign exchange markets, prove fruitless.

The per-hectare output of grain crops has increased to the current 4.4 tons from 1.16 tons in 1950, a 2.8-fold increase.
Yuan Longping, a Chinese scientist who is internationally famous as the “Father of Hybrid Rice” has rewritten China’s history of rice cultivation in the second half of the 20th century with his tremendous achievements in the breeding of hybrid rice, and has made extraordinary contributions to solving mankind’s “grain-shortage” problem.
Thanks to his contributions, 51 percent of China’s rice-fields are used to grow fine varieties of hybrid rice, with an average increase of 20 percent in output.

Despite the considerable improvement in policies in recent years, the surge in capital flows still presents substantial risks to developing countries. Future risks to economic and financial stability will likely take a different form and character than those encountered in the past — and may expose institutional and macroeconomic weaknesses that cannot be anticipated at this juncture. One warning sign of potential troubles has been the surge in portfolio inflows that has been associated with a dramatic escalation of stock market prices and valuations in many developing countries, particularly in Asia, raising the risk of asset price bubbles. Other signs of possible trouble are appreciated exchange rates and current account deficits in some Eastern European countries. The impact of individual risks could be magnified if several were to occur simultaneously.
