3 A-Better-Me Story
From TED
Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past ten years studying vulnerability, courage, authenticity, and shame. She spent the first five years of her decade-long study focusing on shame and empathy, and is now using that work to explore a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness. She poses the questions:
How do we learn to embrace our vulnerabilities and imperfections so that we can engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to recognize that we are enough – that we are worthy of love, belonging, and joy?
Brené's talk just made my day. Her speech gave me the sunshine when it was miserable. I own her a favor, thank you so much, Brené.
4 Inspiration
4.1 We are imperfect, but we're worthy of love and belonging
We face the vulnerability here and there, such as, we initiate love with our boyfriend, being turned down, ask someone for help and so on.
4.2 Admit your vulnerability, and treat it as necessity in life
Am I alone living with vulnerability? No.
However, we want to make uncertain certain, we perfect(not only did we are crazy for perfecting us, but our chilrden), we pretend...We just can't. We can't hide those negative feelings, just give ourselves the right to be a human being, let us be seen, really seen, cause vulnerability is the core of creativity, love and joy.
What made me vulnerable makes me beautiful.
5 What are the lessons?
5.1 Let us be seen, really seen
Fully embrace yourself, for instance, you could write your vulnerabilities on your blog, talk with friends and relatives or just start exercise when you are blue, have a sound sleep, get recharged for another day.
5.2 Practice gratitude
When you are trully being loved, never forget to say your thanks and being grateful for them. Better to say 'THANK YOU' in front of them.
5.3 I am good enough
Live wholeheartedly & believe you are worthy of love and belonging are the most fundamental lessons I learned today.
I am lucky enough to watch this awesome TED talk, and I am good enough to have another fight with the tough life!
