Yesterday,oracle released solaris 10 8/11.It's tenth release of solaris 10 that include some new features,you can find more information from here.Today,i'll show you how to use metaimport command in solaris 10.

The metaimport command now supports diskset import when running an Oracle Solaris Cluster configuration. This enhancement enables data recovery for traditional and multi-owner SVM disksets in clustered and non-clustered configurations.

1.Create a meta database use metadb command:

2.Create a disk set use metaset command:

3.Add disk to myset:

4.Create Stripe volumes、Concatenation volumes or Concatenated stripe volumes:

Now,you can find meta device from /dev/md directory:

If you don't create any volumes,you can get follow errors when you use metaimport  command to import a disk set:

5.Release ownership of a disk set:

6.Purge the named disk set:

After,you don't find any meta device from /dev/md directory:

7.Use metaimport command to report on the un-configured disk sets:
