《当幸福来敲门》是由加布里尔﹒穆诺执导，威尔﹒史密斯和他的儿子贾登﹒史密斯主演的美国电影。影片取材取材美国著名黑人投资专家Chris Gardner的人生经历。2007年8月本片获第9届青少年选择奖Teen Choice Award最佳剧情电影。
影片讲述了一位濒临破产、落魄的业务员克里斯，凭借过人的智慧与勤恳的努力成为股市交易员，最后成为知名的金融投资家的励志故事。
克里斯·加德纳，生活在旧金山的黑人男青年，靠做推销员维持生活。克里斯的日子过得并不是很幸福，与美国千千万万普通人一样过着平淡的生活，直到有一天，一系列突如其来的变故让克里斯知道，原来平淡的日子有多珍贵。
公司裁员让他丢了饭碗，没有了工作，妻子因忍受不了长期的贫困生活愤而出走，连六岁大的儿子（杰登·史密斯）也一同带走。没过多久，妻子又把儿子还给了克里斯，从此克里斯不仅要面对失业的困境，还要独立抚养儿子。接下来的日子里，克里斯因长期欠交房租被房东赶出家门，带着儿子流落街头。尽管生活不如意，但克里斯努力培养孩子乐观面对困境的精神，父子俩日子虽苦，但还是快乐地面对每一天。
一次，克里斯在停车场遇见一个开高级跑车的男人，克里斯问他做什么工作才能过上这样的生活，那个男人告诉他自己是做股票经纪人的，克里斯从此就决定自己要做一个出色的股票经纪人，和儿子过上好日子。完全没有股票知识的克里斯靠着毅力在华尔街一家股票公司当上学徒，头脑灵活的他很快就掌握了股票市场的知识，随后在众多的学徒中脱影而出，成为一名股票经纪人，实现了自己的人生目标。
一路上克里斯经历了许多挫折，但是年幼的儿子每次都能给予他最大的鼓励，父子俩相互扶持最终完成了又一个美国梦。
