America, differs from other countries, has a republican form of government. Republic means people have the right to govern the country, to make laws and to appoint public officers.

While American people can choose who they represent themselves, many European nations are in a monarchy. The head of these governments is monarch, called king or emperor, who is not chosen by people, but takes power after the death of his or her father. Take Russia for instance. The head of Russia is called tsar, who ascends the throne from his or her father and have absolute monarch. The tsar can govern Russia at own will, which includes making laws, choosing public officers, collecting taxes and even launching a war. Most monarchies also have an aristocracy. In this form some people have political privileges, but other people don’t. The lawmakers’workplace in England divide into two parts. One is called parliament consists of the people, and the other is called the house of lords consists of hereditary nobles.

However, there is no inherited rank in a republic. American people prefer to choose our own public officers and lawmakers, rather than have them selected for us. Furthermore, republic gives everyone the same chance to succeed. President Abraham Lincoln is the best model. He was born in poor family but rises to the highest rank and saves republic with his perseverance and wisdom. Another example is Henry W. Longfellow, a great American poet. He continues about twenty years on writing. In his poem“"The Building of the Ship" the firm faith in building a republic is voiced.
