点开《Careless Whisper》，很难不被萨克斯的前奏给勾引住。
有网友说，任何音乐只要碰上萨克斯，都会变成靡靡之音。
是啊，尤其是像《Careless Whisper》这黑夜般的歌曲。
这是80年代的一首欧美经典音乐，很多人的父母一辈可能都对它耳熟能详。这个乐队是新中国成立后第一个来华演出的乐队，当年这首歌的视频至今可以在网上搜到。
而我认识它，是在十多年前的中学校园。那时候百度mp3刚上线不久，我下载了一个日本歌手翻唱的《Careless Whisper》，存进随身听，在接下来的一个夏夜，我躺在宿舍随手换着音乐，播放键跳到它就停了下来，接下来发生了两件事：一是我彻底迷上了这个日本歌手及他的乐队，二是我彻底迷上了这首歌。
前段时间，偶然想起这首歌，于是把它放进了歌单。没想到才过去几天，这首歌的主人——George Michael就去世了。他曾有一首风靡世界的歌曲，《Last Christmas》，而这个圣诞节真的成了他的Last Christmas。
很长时间以来，《Careless Whisper》始终是我心中的最佳音乐典范。因为它具备四个重点要素：第一耳听就会爱上，再听N遍也不会腻，常常想要拿出来回味，回味多次依然觉得动听。流行音乐能达到这种境界的，实在是不多。
当然这是我个人的评判方式，并不见得人人喜欢。但毫无疑问，《Careless Whisper》的魅力很大。诞生几十年来，它的各种版本浩如烟海，有情歌，舞曲，摇滚，爵士，有男声，女声，有钢琴，吉他，萨克斯，有日语版，粤语版……恨不得全世界的人都唱过它。
据说，占据全球翻唱数量榜首的歌曲是《Hey Jude》，这首歌在伦敦奥运会上引发了世界级的大合唱。《Careless Whisper》显然与此不同。《Hey Jude》是那种温柔中带着坚韧，“看透生活的真相却依然热爱生活”的音乐，是善良，爱与和平。而《Careless Whisper》却有着更复杂的人性。
它是一首悲伤的分手之歌。
歌词堪称绝佳的第一人称心理叙事。它讲述了一场离别之舞，而离别的原因是背叛。
男孩是做错事的那一个，所以当他牵着女孩的手走向舞池，他感到迷茫而不确定。音乐声太大，人群太嘈杂，他的舞步因愧疚而失去了节奏。他们曾有过许多美好的时光，当音乐结束，这些回忆如同电影般一帧帧闪现，越是美好，分别的悲伤就越清晰。

事情败露，大概是因为一个朋友无意间的透露。男孩的心情很复杂，他愧疚又带有一点怨，他说时间不能弥补这偶然的意外，对于心灵而言，有些事情不如不知道。真相里没有安慰，只会带来痛苦。

There is no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you can find
但是这又有什么区别呢？虽然说谎很容易，但我知你早已看穿。

再也没有隐藏的可能，只有直面赤裸裸的现实。
其实早已知道欺骗是不行的（然而还是走向了这一步），却让自己失去了最后的机会。

离别让男孩心碎，几乎要呐喊“我到底做错了什么，你一定要离我而去？”但没有人能代他担此罪责，怪只怪，自己咎由自取。

如果将歌词细读，会发现语言与旋律竟能如此契合。心碎的独白，心碎的唱腔，以及心碎的编曲。一个属于年轻男孩的夜晚，一场舞，让他从少不更事到认识人生的残酷。这首歌的复杂就在于，它同时诠释了爱与背叛。
爱情，应是真诚的，否则男孩不会伤心欲绝；但欺骗也是真的，而它与爱情无法兼容。有些事，一旦做错就再没有第二次机会。爱既是在一起的原因，也是无可挽回的分手理由。这当是歌曲主人公学到的第一课。
如此看来，萨克斯才是最正确的乐器，只有它能表现出深入骨髓的缠绵悱恻、依依不舍却又恩断义绝。换作其他乐器，韵味就变了。
听过许多的翻唱，还是认George Michael的原版。小八卦一下，《Careless Whisper》在同志圈广为流传，因为George Michael是著名的同志歌手。试想一下，这首歌放在男女、男男、女女，好像也都不为过，毕竟人性是相通的。
不知有没有人觉得，这首歌五味杂陈的情绪，真是又悲伤又性感。
