主要还是以前笔记的复习，按照不同内容整理归纳了一下，方便统一记忆。
今天先简单说说容易混淆或者用错的词的第一部分。
1，Worth 和 Worthy，表示值得
以下内容来自常用词疑难用法手册。
①worth 可作n. / adj.
(1) 作adj.时【用法同介词】：不能单独作表语，比如：不能说 This is worth. 只能说 worth five yuan 或者 worth doing/worth sth；
例句
The museum is certainly worth a visit.
这家博物馆的确值得参观。
This idea is well worth considering.
这个想法很值得考虑。
关于worth doing：一定是主动语态，但意思是被动的。
比如：This is worth doing.（不能说 This is worth being done.但意思表达的是，值得被做，被动）;
如果意思是主动的，那也不行，比如：I am worth publishing my poems. 这里的publishing是主动的意思，也不对。
怎么改呢？应该是：it’s worthwhile for me to publish my poems. 或者是：My poems are worth publishing.
关于worth 和 worthwhile，前者用 well，不用 very;
(2) 作n.时：money+worth+of+sth
表示价值(多少钱)的东西:
例句
The winner will receive ten pounds' worth of books.
获胜者将得到价值十英镑的书籍。
② Worthy 可作n. / adj.
词组：be worthy of 值得
否定：be not worthy of / be unworthy of
2，Remain，Retain，Leave，表示留、剩
remain用法很多，很容易混，切记，没见过的用法就别生造，remain正确的用法有：
①什么都不加
Little of the original building remains.
原来的建筑已经所剩无几。
The score is tied, with fifteen minutes remaining.
现在比分相同，比赛还剩十五分钟。
②+adj/n
We remained friends.
我们还是朋友。
The boy remained silent .
男孩依然默不作声。
③+从句，that可省略
I feel sorry for her, but the fact remains (that) she lied to us.
我为她感到难过,可事实是她对我们撒了谎。
④+to be done
It remains to be seen (= it will only be known later) whether you are right.
你说得对不对还有待证实。
⑤+prep/adv
The plane remained on the ground.
飞机仍未起飞。
She left, but I remained behind.
她走了,而我留了下来。
Retain
to keep sth; to continue to have sth
保持；持有；保留；继续拥有
原来就有，现在仍然有（一样的东西）
例句
He struggled to retain control of the situation.
他曾努力保持对局势的控制。
The house retains much of its original charm.
这所房子保留了许多原有的魅力。
Leave
in a sum, to have a particular amount remaining
剩下，余:
Three from seven leaves four.
七减三余四。
原文出处:
软银将减持4个百分点，保留这家中国网络电商28%的股份。
这里的保留，很多人写了retain，完全理解为字面意思，没有仔细思考，其实应该是原来是32%，减了4个百分点，剩28%，leave最合适。Retain核心意思是to continue have sth，原来多少，现在还保留多少。
3，cost、expend、spend，表示花费
①Cost的主语不可能是人，没有这样的表达，都是什么事/物+cost，表示花费；
词组：at the cost of 以…为代价；
at all costs 不惜任何代价，无论如何；
②expend+money的表达不如 spend+money普遍；
③Spend money on + n./doing；
4，Economy，economical(ly)，economic，economist 表示经济
① economy N./ADJ.
1）作可数名词时， 表示国家或地区的经济/经济状况，复数： economies（表示多国或多地区的经济）；
还可以表示精打细算：make economies；
2）作不可数n.时，表示节约、节俭；
3）作adj.时，表示经济的、便宜的；
（an economy: 一件节约的事）
注意，economy还可以表示国家
[C] a country, when you are thinking about its economic system
(就经济体制而言)国家；
例句
Ireland was one of the fastest-growing economies in Western Europe in the 1990s.
在 20 世纪 90 年代爱尔兰是西欧经济发展最快的国家之一。
② economical ADJ.
经济的、节省的、简练的；
（Economical with the truth: 谎话连篇的）
③ economic ADJ.
1) 与经济有关的，经济上的； Ecomonic policy 经济政策
2) 有收益的，有赢利的；
3) 节约的，节俭的；
4) （学科）与经济有关的； economic history 经济史
④ economist N. 经济学家
其中，economy和economic是最常用的。
5，Merge，acquisition， consolidation，表示合并
Merge：If two or more things become one, they merge.(两个变一个)
Acquisition：an act of purchase of one company by another.(收购，一个买另外一个)
Consolidation：
Anywhere there’s consolidation , there’s merging, joining, and combining.(本意是加强巩固，也有合并的意思:The merger of two or more commercial interests or corporations.)
原文出处：
康菲石油是由美国康纳和石油公司和菲利普斯石油公司于2002年合并而成立。
这里的合并是指两家公司合并变为一家公司，所以，这里最恰当、最大众的词还是merge。
还有人写了combine，integrate：
Combine也能说得通，它主要表示联合起来，我觉得如果这里表达强强联手（为了一个目的）倒是合适，但是说“合并”貌似不够精确。
Integrate也有使合并的意思，使公司业务合并等，但我认为主要表达的思想还是和combine类似：
if two or more things integrate, or if you integrate them, they combine or work together in a way that makes something more effective
（使）合并，（使）结合〔从而变得更有效〕:
例句
The idea with young children is to integrate learning with play.
对幼儿的理念是寓教于乐。
总之，如果说两家公司合并，最简单准确的词，就是merge。
