1.unkempt

ADJ If you describe something or someone as unkempt, you mean that they are dirty, and not taken care of or kept neat.

2.venomous

ADJ If you describe a person or their behaviour as venomous, you mean that they show great bitterness and anger toward someone.

3.maim

V-T To maim someone means to injure them so badly that part of their body is permanently damaged.

4.hypnotize

V-T If someone hypnotizes you, they put you into a state in which you seem to be asleep but can still see, hear, or respond to things said to you.

5.writhe

V-I If you writhe, your body twists and turns violently backward and forward, usually because you are in great pain or discomfort.

6. revulsion

N-UNCOUNT Someone's revulsion at something is the strong feeling of disgust or disapproval they have toward it.

7.cower

V-I If you cower, you bend forward and downward because you are very frightened.

8.vermin

N-PLURAL Vermin are small animals such as rats and mice which cause problems to humans by carrying disease and damaging crops or food.

9.grotesque

ADJ You say that something is grotesque when it is so unnatural, unpleasant, and exaggerated that it upsets or shocks you.

10.jaunty

ADJ If you describe someone or something as jaunty, you mean that they are full of confidence and energy.
