Pick Up Some Acorns -- Micro-Investing

I've been looking for ways to invest, the kind that is not too scary or risky like stocks, or requires too much initial investment like real estate. I just started using an app called Acorns, which lets you invest a small amount of money (E.g. $5) and choose from preset portfolios that has a mix of diverse stocks and bonds.

What I like about an app like this is that it tries to make a kinda scary field more friendly to us. I don't know about others, but when I think about making investment, several keywords or phrases floating in mind: "stock is risky", "get enough knowledge about the market before you dive in", "save a big initial amount of money as the foundation", etc.

Alright, I've been told to open my investment accounts many times by my parents -- I don't know if I'm not the right type of person to learn about money, but so far it's been hard for me to try to sit down and learn about rules on stocks and funds. I have some basic knowledge, but I'm not confident enough to pick a few on my own and just risk my money like that. I'm also not keen on checking stock apps multiple times daily either.

That's why when I knew about Acorns (and a few other similar apps), I was really excited. It's like a piggy bank where you can put your changes, but can help money grow. I'm in for this concept. Investment doesn't have to be something I want to try but can't because of fears.

I notice there are a couple of apps similar to Acorns blooming in the market, such as Stash, Motif. I'll know better after using Acorns for a few months and maybe give other apps a try as well.
