Gourmet and Cuisine

    In the modern society, more and more people attach importance to the refined and elaborate food, including the style of cooking and the flavor. The quick-fix society inhibits most of us from hands-on experience on cooking, such a complicated art. The question is, who help us feast our tongue?

    As regards me, I can cook some simple vegetable dishes we often eat. As for meat dishes, I am in a maze, such as fish, chicken, soft-shelled turtle and so on. I am scared to kill the life. I think the animals are too miserable. However, we all eat them. We should appreciate the animal killers from the perspective to some degree.

    Some people take animal killing as a job. When I was a child, my father refused to kill a chicken by himself. Not because he is a weak man. As a matter of fact, he is very strong. He is just reluctant to kill livestocks.

    Someone gave my brother a soft-shelled turtle. My brother brought it home and prepared to cook it for us together. How to kill it? I searched the internet. The simple way is to hot it dead with hot water. Looking at the lively turtle, I felt afraid. Such a life was going to die in such a way. I thought my brother wouldn't share the same thought with me. However, as soon as my brother put the hot water to the turtle, he ran away. He was also afraid to see it die in such a way. My mother understood our feeling and comforted us: "It's a dish..."

    Maybe others won't have the same thought with us. It's the family trait.
