01 Why do you use classroom routines?

They make learners feel safe and confident if they know what will happen in class.

02 How are routines useful for teachers?

Learners know what to do during regular classroom activities. So the teachers can concentrate on other things.

03 How do you establish routines?

I teach, demonstrate and use them at the start of the year. I use English and tell learners what words and phrases mean.

04 Does it take a long time to teach the routines?

It takes some time, but when learners know routines it saves class time and it’s easier to control the class.

05 You can use classroom routines for regular or everyday classroom activities such as:

• starting a lesson

• ending a lesson

• ending one activity and starting another

• Organizing learners into pairs or groups
