Antelope Canyon is one of the best-known and most-photographed slot canyons in the world. Located in northern Arizona, the canyon was formed by the erosion of the soft sandstone for millions of years, mainly due to flash flooding and secondly to the wind. The canyon used to be the habitat of wild antelopes, so it was named after the antelopes. Antelope Canyon includes two separate slot canyon sections Upper Antelope Canyon (or “the Crack”) and Lower Antelope Canyon (or “the Corkscrew”). The natural light shines through the crack onto the red sandstone. Since the light changes constantly, the color varies from season to season, even from hour to hour, from angle to angle; visitors are drowned inthese kaleidoscopic colors.

Here is a place full of colors and shapes. Only during a short period of time at noon is the sunlight able to beam through the cracks and drench the canyon. The rocks under the light glow dreamily as the light constantly changes. A river of lights and colors runs through the canyon.

The canyon is so narrow that the visitors need to wait in lines to explore it. Since our bus could only stay for thirty minutes, we had scarce time for photographs. The inside of the canyon was very dark, yet, withthe light from the outside shining on the red stones, I felt enchanted.
