For millions, the pandemic is a killer, an economic disaster, and a nightmare. For those of us that are lucky enough to work from home, this can be a blessing in disguise, allowing us to slow down and savor every little treasure life has to offer – life under the pandemic can be a good life. And to honor that spirit, I rewrote the lyrics of OneRepublic’s “Good Life” for the Pandemic Edition:
Top of the World on New Year’s Day
Found myself cooking every day
Never dreamed I would get here
But the pandemic has me acting weird
New hobbies and habits that I don't know
Listening to the Tim Ferriss Show
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever I want
I’m blessed enough to say
Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like God wants you to pause tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
To my blog readers, I say hello
My friends on Facebook, they don't know
What a journey I went through the past few months or so
From madness to peace to joy
Sometimes there are parties I miss out
Sometimes there are voices I hear now
We all got our struggles but please tell me
What there is to complain about
When you're trapped in your house
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in
Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like God wants you to pause tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
A good, good life
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hopelessly
I feel like like there might be something that I'll miss
Hopelessly
I feel like time stands oh oh so still
Hopelessly
I'm taking a picture of this moment now
'Cause hopelessly
The hope is we have so much to be grateful about
Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like God wants you to pause tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life
Oh, oh oh, oh yeah, a good, good life, good life
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, whoa, listen
To my blog readers, I say hello
My friends on Facebook, they don't know
What a journey I went through the past few months or so
From madness to peace to joy
Sometimes there are parties I miss out
Sometimes there are voices I hear now
We all got our struggles but please tell me
What there is to complain about
