Why do people think the writer is mad?
Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad. I live near an airport and passing planes can be heard night and day. Ther airport was built years ago, but for some reason it could not be used then. Last year, however, it came into use. Over a hundred people must have been driven away from their homes by the noise. I am one of the few people left. Sometimes I think this house will be knocked down by a passing plane. I have been offered a large sum of money to go away, but I am determined to stay here. Everybody says I must be mad and they are probably right.

知识笔记：
1、/eə/是元音音标，属于集中双元音。学习这个音之前先学习/e/和/ə/的发音。发音时先发/e/然后滑向/ə/音，口型由大变小。
2、如何正确的发出/eə/这个音。
1）学习该音的发音方法请先学习/e/和/ə/这两个单元音。
2）首先先发前元音/e/，同时舌尖轻触下齿。
3）然后很快滑向/ə/音，发音过程中双唇半开。
4）注意：/eə/是个"集中双元音"，发音/e/时嘴角向两边拉，滑向/ə/音收小，口型由大变小。
