益生菌是动物及人体有益的微生物的统称。它们对维护人体微生态系统的平衡起到了重要作用。

胃肠道是益生菌活动的主要场所;此外,口腔,鼻腔,食道,胸腔等部位也生活着大量的益生菌。益生菌可以抑制肠道内腐败物质的堆积,维持肠道健康并产生乳酸,促进人体的消化吸收。
