引自 Mac OS X 自带的《New Oxford American Dictionary (3rd edition)》:      Usage:  The word gender has been used since the 14th century as a grammatical term, referring to classes of noun designated as masculine, feminine, or neuter in some languages. The sense ‘the state of being male or female’ has also been used since the 14th century, but this did not become common until the mid 20th century. Although the words gender and sex both have the sense ‘the state of being male or female,’ they are typically used in slightly different ways: sex tends to refer to biological differences, while gender refers to cultural or social ones. 简单地说,在「性别」这个意义上,「sex」偏向于指生物学性别概念,而「gender」偏向于指文化、社会中的性别概念。比如一般介绍动物的性别时我们说「sex」,而说人类的性别时会区别使用「sex」(生物学性别)和「gender」(文化、社会性别)。              我感觉这点解释还是不足以澄清这个问题,期待更多解答。而且这两个词确实在许多情况下也都没有特别的倾向,混用的状况很多。编辑于 2011-12-02
