1. **Understand the Audience’s Power **
   Look at the audience as the “hero” of your idea
   • Give the hero a special gift
   • Teach the hero to use a “magical” tool
   • Help the hero get “unstuck”

   • Get to the point
   • Give them what they asked for
   • Set expectations
   • Create executive summary slides
   • Rehearse

5. Define How You’ll Change the Audience
   When you present, you’re asking the people in the room to change their behavior or beliefs in some way, big or small.
6. Find Common Ground
   • Shared experiences: What from your past do you have in common. Do you share memories, historical events, interests?
   • Common goals: Where are you all headed in the future? What types of outcomes are mutually desired?
   • Qualifications: Why are you uniquely qualified to be the audience’s guiding expert?
