在英语语系的国家里，人们敬酒时，基本都说cheers。但实际上，cheers与“干杯”的字面意思同样不尽相同，并没有“一饮而尽”之意。而且，cheers也不仅仅是举杯敬酒时才使用，它的用处非常广泛，也有“喝彩、鼓舞、鼓励”的意思。有时候，它也可以像“Best regards”那样被用在信件的末尾处，指“合作愉快”。可见，不论从什么语境来说，cheers更偏向于一类祝福语。

在英国，cheers更常见于表示谢谢和再见，在生活中的出现频率很高。英国人既用cheers向人致谢，也用cheers和朋友告别。

同学们要是和英国人聊天时，不要每次都说thank you和see you，用cheers会让对方感到更自然亲切。

“干了这杯”=bottoms up

Bottoms up!(别丢了s)的意思就是“一饮而尽，一喝到“底””。“干杯”可不能直译为dry glass，这个词用在祝酒时，表示“一饮而尽”。人们喝完了整杯酒之后经常把杯子倒过来，让杯口朝下，以示杯中的酒喝光了，所以可用bottoms up表示“干杯”。

例：

For the further development of our company,bottoms up!

为了公司更好的发展，干杯!

A:Congratulations on your promotion.Bottoms up!

祝贺你升职了，干杯!

B:Thank you.Bottoms up!

例：
