Coronavirus: Georgia Records 486 New Cases,13 Deaths

Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, at a press briefing held at the Government Administration, today spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of February 17, 2021.
“Within the scope of intensive testing, 19,192 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 12,628 were antigen-based express test method and 6564 PCR.
“486 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed within the last 24 hours as a result of testing. Since the detection of the first case, 266,948 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.
“Regarding the test-positive indicator, the daily rate as of February 16 is 2.53%, for the past 14 days 2.8% and 7 days 2.4%.
“499 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 259,727.
“Unfortunately, 13 new fatalities have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3390.
Of the 486 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 194 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 32 in Adjara, 49 in Imereti, 14 in Kvemo Kartli, 36 in Shida Kartli, 37 in Guria, 34 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 74 in Kakheti, 8 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 4 in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 4 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
“Active cases of COVID-19 have reached 3805. 1828 of those are being treated in hospitals, of which 810 are stationed in Tbilisi, 166 in Adjara and 421 in Imereti. 379 patients are critical, of which 156 are based in Tbilisi, 39 in Adjara and 113 in Imereti. Ventilators are being used in the case of 103 patients, out of which 67 are stationed in Tbilisi, 6 in Adjara and 14 in Imereti. 229 individuals are in clinical hotels, 111 are based in Tbilisi, 102 in Adjara and 12 in Imereti. 1748 individuals are being treated at home. 242 individuals are in quarantine, of which 98 are located in Tbilisi and 45 in Adjara.
“In total 22,878 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine venues from October 6, 2020 through February 16, 2021.
“Currently, 11,485 individuals are in self-isolation, of which 6325 are based in Tbilisi, 644 in Adjara and 1159 in Imereti,” Sichinava said.
