一、知识解析
Other
other可作形容词或代词，作形容词时表示“别的，其他的”，泛指“其他的（人或物）”,不能单独使用，后面必须接可数名词的复数形式。
Eg:
He studies English, math and some other subjects.
译：他学习英语、数学和一些别的科目。
上句话中，尽管前面没有some，但在other后面也必须用复数形式。
Others
others是other的复数形式，它就相当于“other+名词复数”，泛指“别人；另外几个；其余的”。因此它的后面不能再接名词。
others在句中可作主语、宾语。
如果句中前面出现了some，后面通常就会用others，即构成“Some...others...”的固定结构，这时就可以翻译成“有的…有的…；一些…另一些/其他的…”。
Eg:
①Some students are dancing, others are singing.
译：一些学生在跳舞，其他的在唱歌。（学生们有的在跳舞，有的在唱歌。）
上句中的others在这里就相当于other students.
②Tom likes helping others.
译：汤姆喜欢帮助别人。
The other
1） the other指两个人或物中的一个时，只能用the other，不能用another ，此时的other作代词。
Eg:
He has two daughters. One is a nurse,the other is a worker.
译：他有两个女儿，一个是护士，另一个是工人。
2）the other后可加单数名词，也可加复数名词，此时的other作形容词。
Eg:
①On the other side of the street, there is a tall tree.
译：在街道的另一边，有一棵大树。
②Mary is much taller than the other girls.
译：玛丽比其他的女孩高得多。
Another
1） another表示三者及以上中的“再一，另一”个，后接单数名词。
既可作形容词，也可作代词，只能用于三个或更多的人或物，泛指同类事物中的三者或三者以上的“另一个”，只能代替或修饰单数可数名词。
这个单词本质上其实是“an other”这两个单词的连写，所以它的前面不能再写上冠词an.
Eg:
①I don't like this one. Please show me another.
译：我不喜欢这一个，请给我看看另一个。
②I have three daughters. One is a nurse, another is a teacher and another is a worker.
译：我有三个女儿。一个是护士，另一个是教师，还有一个是工人。
2） another后还可以接“数词+名词复数”，这时是把“数词＋名词复数作为一个整体来看待的。
Eg:
She had to stay here for another ten days.
译：她只好又在这儿待了十天。
上句的意思暗含她原来就在这里已经住了若干天了，现在不得不又住一个十天。

【解析】就相当于“other+名词复数”，泛指“别人；另外几个；其余的”。因此它的后面不能再接名词。
5.This is not the only answer to the question.There are _____.
【答案】others
【解析】该空后不接名次，为代词，且不知数目为多少。不用another，是因another是指三者及以上中的另一个，其中的“另一个”也不符合题意。故用others。
6.He was a wonderful teacher.Everyone agreed it would be hard to find ____ like him.
【答案】another
【解析】该词后不接名词，为代词。句意指从人群中的再找不到另一个像他这样的老师（三者及以上的其中的另一个）。故用another。
7.I don’t like those shoes.Please show me ______.

【解析】该词后不接名词，为代词。句意中指鞋店中的另一双（三者及以上的其中的另一双）。故为another。

【解析】either是指两者中的任何一个。句中提到 two kinds，符合either的用法。后一个空句意指三个及以上的另一个，故为another。

【解析】指两者中的另一个，且构成One...the other...的固定搭配。故为the other。
