Today I read a book which is called War is a lie. This is a book writte by David Swanson, an American writer who fights against the war. War is a word always relate to the United States and David think his motherland is the biggest war maker in the war. In his book, he try to expose the iceberg under the sea and show the reader the lie behind the war. In his opinion, war can be avoided.

Gulf of Tonkin is a famous event that he mentioned in his book and that happened in 1964. There were some secret documents reveal the Vietnam War caused by a lie. At first the American warship didn’t attacked by any other army, possibly it was just some passing whale. The soldier corrected the information after a few minutes. However, when the message arrived at White House, it became a reason for fighting.

During the Second World War, before the American air force drop the bomb hitting Nazi Germany, the headquarters received a note telling avoiding the factory of Ford. But this factory owning by America is a military factory for the Nazi government. Before the benefit, we can’t see the country anymore.

According to the survey, over 50% soldier come from the community which the revenu is under the average line. Talking about the soldier we sometimes remind the patriotism, the hero or maybe Saving private Ryan. However, the writer told us the truth may be different. In his word, he mentioned that the drillmaster would try to create a kind of conditioned reflex in those young men’s heart. Their target just looks like the human shape and takes a lot of time to build the consciousness. It is familiar with the firemen, ignoring the fear,  jump into the fire and save the life. The only different is that the soldier is trained for despoil the life. They are trained to be a killing machine which cause a high rate of commit suicide even higher than the rate of falling in battle and the criminal rate of the ex-serviceman is two times higher than the other people.

As the writer’s opinion, that is really horrible and hopeless. But at the final section of the book he also delivered some idea about the solution such as the new energy resources’ exploitation. As William James said, our human is so tiny in the world that we need to release our power with the battle. Thousands years ago, the human fight with each other and conquer the other countries. We may have this requirement. So the thing we can change nowadays is the enemy. We can fight with the nature, fight with the life, create the peaceful energy type such as solar energy which instead of petroleum.

During the Second World War, a small town of England was hitted by Nazi. But after that the villagers sign a letter to protest the English Air Force hitting the German towns and the reason is they don’t want anyone suffering the pain again.
