Charlie Parker,1920-1955

Charlie Parker is one of America’s greatest jazz musicians,he influenced the direction of jazz music during his short life time.His influence continues today.

   Charlie Parker developed a new style of jazz called “bebop”.He said:” Music is your own experience,your thoughts,your wisdom.If you don’t live it ,it won’t come out of your horn”

   Charlie was born August twenty-nigh,nineteen twenty.Her mother bought him a saxophone in nineteen thirty – three.And later ,he left school and developed as a musician by playing with diferent groups in public eating and drinking places called nightclubs.During this time,he became dependent on alcohol and the illegal drug,herioin,and that affect him the rest of his life.

   one night in nineteen thirty – six,he became lost in the music when he played the saxophone in a jam session.The incident ,however,made Charlie work even harder to improve his playing.

   It was during this time when he went to New York City in nineteen thirty – nine that he began to develop his own style of jazz.And later he made a big discovery.Charlie Parker’name first appeared in the press reports about music in nineteen forty.

   Parker’s continuing drug habit was affecting him.He often was late for performances.Or he missed them.

   In nineteen forty-six,Charlie suffered a nervors breakdown.His dependence on heroin and alcohol led to this severe mental condition.After staying in a hospital for six month ,he return to New York City.And in the following four years are considered his most successful.

   In July,nineteen fifty-one,his right to play in nightclubs was taken away because he used illegal drugs.His debts greatly increased.His physical and mental health began to fail.

   His last public appearance was on March fifth,nineteen fifty-five.He died of a heart attack.He was thirty – four.

   Charlie Parker’s influece on modern jazz music continues to live.
