之前分享过律动性强的歌谣跟chant很适合启蒙阶段的孩子培养语感。《But not the hippopotamus 》就是这样满是押韵般的chant。

翻开第一页就给我难住了，几个不认识的单词，A hog and a frog carvort in the bog.一只猪跟青蛙在泥坑里跳跃手舞足蹈。

A cat and two rats are trying on hat

But not the hippopotamus.

A moose and a goose together have juice.

But not the hippopotamus.

一只小猫跟两只老鼠在试着帽子，但没有河马呀！

一只麋鹿跟一只鹅在喝着果汁，但没有河马呀！

A bear and a hare have been to a fair

but not the hippopotamus.

熊跟兔子去了游园会，但没有河马呀！

Now the hog and the frog hurry out for a  jog.

While the cat and the rats in their new running hats……

Then the animal pack comes scurrying back，saying，hey come join the lot of us！

And she just doesn't know—should she stay ？should she go？

动物小伙伴们匆匆赶来，齐声说：嘿！跟我们一起跑步吧！

她不知道该待着不动还是去跑步？
