英语写作中“加入”、“集成”incorporate、integrate的用法

一、incorporate和integrate虽然是近义词，有时候也可互换，但它们意思的侧重点不同。

二、incorporate涉及的两方面有主次关系，例如：

We incorporated the new features into the password authentication scheme. （我们在口令认证协议中加入了新特性。）

The authors should incorporate experimental results in their manuscript.（作者应该在文稿中加入实验结果。）

Originally, image compression barely involved prediction, particularly pixel prediction. In 1974, DCT was incorporated into image compression, and image compression has undergone a revolutionary transformation since then.（最初，图像压缩只设计预测，特别是像素预测。1974年DCT变换引入图像压缩，从此图像压缩经历了革命性的变化。）

从上面的例句中可以看出incorporate 使用的涉及到的主次关系。

三、integrate（with）涉及到的双方是平行关系，例如：

A module of image compression is integrated with the camera. Now a camera always has functionality of compression. （摄像头集成了一个图像压缩模块，所以现在摄像头总是具有压缩功能。）

这句integrated with 可以替代为 incorporated into，意思不变，但意义稍不同。

集成电路integrated circuits 就是把各式电路集成一起，这些电路没有主次关系。

三、我们会遇到integrate……into，它的意思和incorporated相同，也体现主次关系，例如上面的例句可写为：

A module of image compression is integrated into the camera. Now a camera always has functionality of compression. 

但是，我们要避免下面的句子：

We integrated a new feature into existing protocols.（我们在已有的协议中加入了新特性。）

因为integrate有紧密结合的意思，这样的句子实际上在给自己的工作很高的评价：我们在结合方面做得很好。显然这样的评价是不合适的，而通过使用incorporate表达一个事实就可以了：

We incorporated a new feature into existing protocols.

（例句属原创，无引用。）
