中国有很多关于勤勉求学的历史故事,匡衡凿壁(bore a hole on the wall)偷光就是其中一个。

In China, there are many historic stories of diligence in studies, and one of them is that Kuang Heng bored a hole on the wall to read in his neighbor's light.

Kuang Heng was an outstanding scholar in the Western Han Dynasty. He was born into a poor farmer's family, but he had been very fond of reading since he was very little.

When he was a young boy, he often did odd jobs for other people for free, and in return, these people lent their books to him.

When he got older, Kuang Heng had to work in the fields during the day,so he studied hard at night. However, he had no lamp in his home.

His neighbor was a well-off family. So in order to read books, Kuang Heng bored a hole in the wall and "stole" some light from his neighbor.

This is a story well-known as "boring a hole on the wall to read in the neighbor's light", and KuangHeng has become a good example of diligence in studies.
