Symphony # 9, Movement 4

Mr. Beethoven is famous for his temper, but his moods are not your fault.

So, Mr. Beethoven has a great temper.

be famous for  主语是表示人的名词时,be famous for 表示“以某种知识、技能、作品或特征而出名”,而be famous as 则表示“以某种身份而出名”。

He is famous for his great inventions.

He is famous as a great inventor.

Try to imagine how frustrating his life must be.Imagine how lonely to hear no voices. Imagine hearing no birds sing, no wind in the trees, no pealing of bells.Imagine, he hears no music. Not even his own!

peal: When bells peal, they ring one after another, making a musical sound.

He squeezed my shoulder in a friendly way when he passed me in the hall this afternoon.

(squeeze blood out of turnip)

You can't squeeze blood from a turnip means you cannot get something from a person that they don't have to give you.

And it's used about money.(出自voa)

The concert is tomorrow night and so, of course, I cannot sleep.

I think of Mr. Beethoven alone upstairs.

I have not heard him stir for quite some time.

I wonder what he's thinking about.

Perhaps he is hearing something beautiful in his head.

It was hours long but the concert seemed over before it started.

To think that he had heard this in his head!

All of us were standing and cheering and clapping and waving scarves and shouting and trying to make Mr. Beethoven hear us.

He didn't even know to turn around until one of the sopranos took his sleeve.

She turned him to face the crowd.

Four times the audience began to clap and cheer again.

Up there on the stage, Mr. Beethoven bowed and bowed and bowed again.

Piano Sonata Op 49, #2, Movement

It was on the street.I saw him rushing by, humming to himself as always.I ran up and caught him by the sleeve.

He didn't even know to turn around until one of the sopranos took his sleeve.

And then I took the book and told him that we miss him very much.

He read my message and he didn't say anything at first. He squeezed my hand and looked down at the ground.

The twins have finally stopped their screaming.

But I know our good luck will not hold.

I have seen them exchanging looks in their carriage and know that they are hatching some new plan.

hatch a plan制定计划,其实有点类似hatch a plot密谋的意味。(hatch 孵化)

I have named him... Metronome ... because of his wagging tail.

Symphony # 6, Shepherd's Theme

Years later, living in Vienna, I found this note among my papers:

Uncle, last night when I heard that Mr. Beethoven had died.I went down by the river and thought about the time he lived upstairs.

Mr. Beethoven wanted to change the world.Maybe he will do it ... bit by bit.
