hi~下午好，最近还挺忙的，刚刚陪完妈妈，昨晚伤心得默默掉泪哈哈。距离真的产生美，每一次和妈妈短暂的见面都令我十分不舍，但若回家呆五天以上就会开始吵架~不知道大家和父母的相处模式是怎样的.
Anyway, 今天我们就进入第四节课，这篇文章虽然也有写故事桥段，但还是有一点雅思作文词汇的意思~一起来看看
These days, people who do manual work often receive far more money than people who work in offices. People who work in offices are frequently referred to as "white-collar workers' for the simple reason that they usually wear a collar and tie to go to work. Such is human nature, that a great many people are often willing to sacrifice higher pay for the privilege of becoming white-collar workers. This can give rise to curious situations, as it did in the case of Alfred Bloggs who worked as a dustman for the Ellesmere Corporation.
1.首先我们先来讲讲manual work,white-collar workers~大家都知道白领、蓝领、粉领，但他们具体的意味都清晰吗~我今天也跟着学习一下。
white-collar：have jobs in offices, banks etc.比如我们前阵子讲到的clerical work
blue-collar：do physical work, rather than working in offices.这里的physical work其实就是manual work.体力劳动。
pink-collar：low-paid jobs done mainly by women, for example in offices and restaurants
2.接下来来说说工资的那些事儿。其实第一句话非常像雅思大作文的首句或题目，因此我们可以衍生出一些同义替换。比如文中提到的receive far more money、 sacrifice higher pay
pay作名词表示“工资、薪水”，比如 get paid 领工资、payday 发薪日 、How was your pay?
salary也是薪水，一般是对于所谓white-collar的周/月/年结算的，比如 annual salary 年薪、good/low salary、raise salary 加薪.
wage一般是manual work的时/周/月薪，比如 hourly wage 时薪、minimum wage 最低时薪
income的范围更广，翻译为“收入”更为准确
除此之外还有 bonus 奖金，比如annual bonus 年终奖；commission 提成；benefits 福利（注意复数）；maternity leave 产假 ；welfare 福利（社会性的），也可以一连串记忆
3.give rise to 引起[导致]某事〔尤指坏事〕
4.case 是一个非常常见，但是在我学英语时期好像没什么老师提及过的词 ，我们常说“我负责这个case”，这里指的就是“案例、个案、例子”，比如Tom’s career is a case in point 汤姆的事业就是个明证、There were 16 cases of damage to cars in the area.该地区有16起汽车受损事件；还有指“情况”的含义，比如In this case, several solutions could be tried.遇到这种情况，可以尝试几种解决办法；in case 作为一个词组有“假如”的意思，Take an umbrella, in case it rains.带把伞吧，以防下雨。In case of fire, break the glass.如遇火险，请击碎玻璃。
口语里我们可能要表示“那这样的话”，可以说 in that case 或者 if that's the case."无论如何"可以表达为 in any case
When he got married, Alf was too embarrassed to say anything to his wife about his job. He simply told her that he worked for the Corporation. Every morning, he left home dressed in a smart black suit. He then changed into overalls and spent the next eight hours as a dustman. Before returning home at night. 1.overall 这个词相信备考雅思的朋友们也不会陌生，但是overalls 是工作服的意思哈哈，美式英语里也会叫 coveralls
2.fellow adj.同学、同事；fellows n.同学、同事、同胞。*fellowship 奖学金
