Intel Readies New Ads

Intel Corp. will soon unveil a major corporate advertising campaign, stressing the chip maker's broad role in innovation rather than its products, people familiar with the situation said.The campaign is expected to include print, broadcast and Internet advertising and be anchored by the slogan 'Sponsors of Tomorrow,' the people said.An Intel spokesman declined comment.Intel, of Santa Clara, Calif., doesn't typically quantify its spending on such campaigns. But the company has been an influential force in high-tech advertising since the 'Intel Inside' campaign helped build the company's brand in the 1990s.In recent years, Intel spent heavily to build product-related brands such as Centrino, an umbrella name for laptop chips.The company's latest effort comes as such internal components of computers seem to be a less interesting topic to many consumers than cellphones and social-networking sites. At the same time, Intel has been placing more emphasis on building chips that would take the company into markets beyond PCs.Intel's latest campaign is targeted at building awareness of the wide impact of its innovations, these people said.
