Violence in parenting

Parenting is a complex topic as it involves different children, parents and background.  However, there seems to be certain general rules for parents to abide by, and one of them is parents should love and respect children.

Did I respect Maomao last night? I questioned that. I spanked his bottom three times. I resorted to violence when I felt irritated by his behavior.

What did he do? He performed badly in the kindergarten. In every single photo the teacher showed in WeChat group, he was either showing a sour face or looking Somewhere else instead of the camera. This made me doubt whether he was behaving himself in school.

There should be a better way to deal with this problem than resorting to violence. Maybe i should show my attitude by a more calm manner. Next time, if he does not behave well, I should first of all find the reason and show my standpoint in a firm yet enjoyable way.

Resorting to violence is the last choice and I believe it is the choice for those who is not resourceful enough.
